Today is the unofficial last day of school for Jacob. Next week is finals and then the big day - graduation!!
I thought it would be fun to look back at Jacob as he started school. So here's a little photo of Jacob's first day of kindergarten - August 28, 1996:
And his official kindergarten photo:
And here's what I wrote about Jacob at age 5:
"Jacob has one sibling named William - age 2. He has a pet called "Wormie the Worm" which he found in the sandbox and keeps in a jar by his bed. Red is his favorite color. Everynight before bed, Jacob listens to music to fall asleep. His favorite song is "All the Pretty Ponies" by Kenny Loggins. Jacob likes to eat chicken and almost all food. He does not, however, like his food to touch on his plate. Playing Legos and Memphis Math on the computer are his favorite activities. He loves to watch "Reading Rainbow" on television and "Indiana Jones" on video. He is very interested in Egypt and mummies and has learned everything he can about them. He hopes to be an archaeologist when he grows up. Jacob is very creative and intelligent. We love having him and his, sometimes, quirky personality in our home."
And Jacob now:
He's still got those sparkly brown eyes and mischievous smile and dimples. He has added another sibling to the mix but the worm no longer lives in a jar by the bed (but there are still jars by the bed). I think brown is now his favorite color and he still listens to music at night but the favorites have definitely changed. He still loves chicken a lot and he has even gotten over the whole food touching thing. The computer takes up most of his free time now and the Legos even come out every now and then. I am sure if "Reading Rainbow" were still on television he would watch and "Indiana Jones" will always hold a special place in his heart. He has changed his career aspiration to computer programming but continues to research any topic that he is interested in until he is an expert. His creativity and intelligence has only increased over the years and his quirky personality is still a joy to have in our home (most days!). And yes there are tears flowing from my eyes. It all went too fast!!
